Background

Dr Nowlan Selvapatt is a consultant hepatologist and gastroenterologist working at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He graduated from Imperial College in 2006 and completed his specialist training in London, including Advanced Training Programme at King’s College Hospital Liver Transplant and Intensive Care Unit. He was awarded a PhD from Imperial College in 2017 for his research in Health Economic Analyses for Viral Hepatitis Screening Programmes.

In 2016 he was invited to write the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines on management of hepatitis C. He has particular interests in chronic liver disease, particularly cirrhosis. He is lead for inpatient liver care and provides liaison to intensive care. He has published numerous research papers including in complications of cirrhosis, and book chapters on acute on chronic liver failure. He regularly performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopies (OGD) and diagnostic colonoscopy including removal of polyps.

Dr Selvapatt’s research interests currently centre around aspects of care for patients with cirrhosis. He is currently involved in investigator led research studies and publishing original research in peer review journals as well as presentations at international conferences.
